Wanting the police and the city to follow policy and law should not be considered radical or extreme. Wanting transparency is not extreme. Wanting accountability is not extreme. Wanting leaders, departments, and officials to be held to the same standards as everyone else is not extreme. When asking for the rule of law, ethical leadership, and accountability is considered controversial — that should concern every citizen, regardless of political party.

Government exists to serve the people, not protect itself. Those are the basic foundations of a functioning government.

The Citizens Commissioner

My loyalty is not to the commissioner to my left or the commissioner on my right or to the police chief, city manager or political insiders. My loyalty is to the citizens of Battle Creek – the people who elect me, pay the bills and deserve a government that works for them.

A citizens commissioner must be willing to ask the touch questions, demand transparency, and put accountability above politics. I will stand with residents, protect their voice, and make decisions based on what is right for Battle Creek – not what is convenient for the political class.

I believe Battle Creek deserves leadership rooted in honesty, transparency, and common sense — leadership that puts citizens before politics and delivers real solutions, not empty promises.

I will fight for a government that earns public trust, welcomes accountability, and focuses on the priorities that matter most to residents. Together, we can restore confidence, demand better, and build a stronger future for Battle Creek.
